These terms cover the Fun Time Call telephone lines listed on funtimecall.com ("the lines") and this website. Calling a line or using the site means you accept them.
What the lines are
Each line is a free entertainment and information service for one city. It announces that city's local time with a tone and its current temperature, and on request will read a short weather forecast, sunrise and sunset times, the next high or low tide where the city is coastal, recent earthquake information where the region has them, and a magic 8-ball answer. When the National Weather Service has an alert in effect for that city, the line says so. That's the whole product.
Not every number is a city line. Any others are listed on the site under Other Numbers with a description of what they do. They are novelties: they answer with a short recorded message and hang up, nobody is on the other end, and nothing said to them is recorded or heard by anyone.
What it is not
The lines are not an emergency, safety, navigation, or professional information service.
In particular, the lines are not an emergency alerting system. Weather alerts are relayed as a convenience, on a delay, and may be missing, stale, or wrong. Hearing no alert does not mean no alert is in effect. For warnings that matter, use the National Weather Service, local emergency management, or a Wireless Emergency Alert capable phone.
Time, weather, tide, sunrise, and earthquake information is relayed from the sources below as-is. It may be delayed, cached for several minutes, or wrong. The announced time is for general use and is not a legally or scientifically traceable time reference. Tide figures are predictions rather than observed water levels and are not for navigation. Do not rely on any of it for decisions where accuracy matters. The magic 8-ball is a toy and its advice is, legally speaking, not advice.
Where the information comes from
Weather and alerts from the National Weather Service; earthquakes from the U.S. Geological Survey; tide predictions from NOAA Tides and Currents; sunrise and sunset times from sunrise-sunset.org. We relay what they publish and do not verify it.
Cost
We don't charge for calls. Your phone carrier's standard rates for calling a U.S. number apply and are your responsibility.
Acceptable use
Don't robocall, war-dial, flood, or otherwise hammer the lines with automated calls, and don't attempt to disrupt the service or its infrastructure. We may block numbers or callers that do.
Availability and changes
The lines are a hobby service provided with no uptime commitment. We may change the menu, the voice, the cities, the numbers, add or remove lines, or shut the whole thing down at any time without notice.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" with no warranties, and the operator is not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the lines or the site.
